Spoon Theory Song Cycle was inspired by an essay written by Christine Miserandino viscerally expressing the experience of being disabled.
She explains what it’s like living day-to-day with a disability, using spoons as a metaphor!

The Spoon Theory essay touched a resonant chord in the hearts and minds of people with and without disabilities around the world because it expresses different types of energy for getting through the day, be it physical, psychological or emotional.

OPrak’s song cycle knit spoken word with song and music, to create a one-hour dynamic, impactful work that we like to call the Spoon Cycle.

Our aim is to educate, entertain, and continue to champion the message of Spoon Theory. Please help support this project as we arrange more opportunities to show this work again and even expand our programming to include more creativity. Be part of the community that brings Spoon Theory and song together in an impactful and profoundly moving way!
